A funnel builder where the lead never has to travel

Most funnel tools capture the lead into themselves, and then the lead has to be moved. Here a funnel step is an ordinary page from the same builder, carrying your real form and your real calendar, so there is nothing to move.

Describe the offer once and every step is generated together.

The short, checkable version

Six statements from this page that stand on their own, with where each one comes from. If you are comparing funnel builders, these are the ones worth checking. Two of them are competitor prices that beat ours and one is a thing we cannot do.

  • Systeme.io gives away three sales funnels, 2,000 contacts, one custom domain and one course on a free plan with no card and no expiry, which makes it the correct choice for anyone whose funnel budget is zero.

    systeme.io/pricing, read 31 July 2026

  • ClickFunnels starts at 97 dollars a month on Launch, with unlimited funnels, 10,000 email contacts and five custom domains; HighLevel starts at the same 97 dollars a month with three sub-accounts.

    clickfunnels.com/pricing and gohighlevel.com/pricing, read 31 July 2026

  • An Inflowave funnel step is not a special page type: it points at an ordinary page from the same builder that runs the rest of the site, so it inherits the pixel, session recordings, GA4 and the Meta Conversions API that every built page gets.

    Inflowave product, verified in code

  • A single funnel session cookie is minted on the first step and lasts 24 hours, and it is sent with every server-side Conversions API event alongside a sequence number, so a purchase two steps later is still joined to the ad click that started it.

    Inflowave product, verified in code

  • Inflowave defines overall funnel conversion as conversions on the last step divided by views on the first step, which is a stricter number than a per-step rate and worth asking any vendor to state before comparing dashboards.

  • Inflowave can split test a single page with sticky per-visitor assignment, but it cannot yet split test one whole funnel variant against another end to end. ClickFunnels, Systeme.io and HighLevel all list funnel-level A/B testing.

Everyone builds the pages. The question is what happens to the person.

Building a sequence of pages is a solved problem. Four products can do it, ours included, and the ones that have been doing it longest do it with more polish and a bigger gallery of finished funnels to start from. Anybody telling you their page editor is the reason to switch is selling you the least interesting part.

The interesting part is what a step actually is. In a standalone funnel tool, a step is a page that lives inside the funnel tool, and the form on it belongs to the funnel tool too. So when somebody opts in, they are captured into a product that is not the one your team works in. Getting them out is a separate job, done by an integration, and that integration is the thing that fails quietly. Nobody notices for a week, and the week is gone.

Here a funnel is a flow laid over ordinary pages from the same builder that makes the rest of your site. A step points at one of those pages. That is the entire mechanism, and it is deliberately unremarkable, because it is what makes the opt-in step carry your genuine form with your qualifying rules, the booking step carry your genuine calendar, and the person who fills either one arrive on the contact record with the pixel, the recordings and the ad attribution already attached to them.

One page, or a sequence? Pick the right one first.

A lot of people buy a funnel product when what they needed was one good page. If a visitor can do the thing you want in a single screen, book a call, request a quote, download the guide, then a sequence adds steps for people to fall out of. That is the job of the AI website builder, which makes a single page and ships it with the tracking already wired, and it is the cheaper and faster answer more often than funnel marketing admits.

A sequence earns its steps when the ask is too big for one screen. Nobody books a high-ticket call off a headline, so something has to qualify them first. Nobody buys a course off a bullet list, so something has to sell before the checkout. When the decision genuinely needs three or four screens, the sequence stops being overhead and starts being the point.

It is the same builder underneath either way. A funnel step points at an ordinary builder page, so nothing is lost by starting with one page and adding steps later, and nothing is gained by starting with six.

How a funnel gets built here

There is no gallery of finished funnels to browse, which is a genuine loss against the others. What there is instead is a wizard that asks what the sequence has to do, and one generation pass that builds all of it knowing about all of it.

Say how many steps, and what each one does

Choose the funnel format, set a step count, then name each step and give it a page type: an opt-in that captures, a sales or video page, an application that qualifies, a booking, a checkout, an upsell, or a thank-you. Ten steps is the ceiling, which is well past the point where more steps stop helping.

Every step is built knowing about the others

The whole plan folds into a single build description rather than one prompt per page. Each page is then generated with the position it occupies, a description of every other step, and the slug its call to action has to point at, and it is required to carry the same header and footer. That is why a funnel built this way does not read like four pages made on four different afternoons.

The steps become a rail you can rearrange

The funnel appears as an ordered list down the side of the builder. Drag to reorder, add a step, import one that already exists, duplicate the one that is working, delete the one that is not. Clicking a step drives the preview to it, so the sequence and the page you are editing never drift apart.

Steps are typed, so they can branch

A step is one of six kinds: page, survey, schedule, upsell, downsell or thank-you. The type is not decoration, it decides the routing. Each step has a default next step, and a step can also route on what happened: accepted goes to the upsell, declined goes to the downsell. So the person who qualifies and the person who does not stop walking the same line.

What a step inherits by being an ordinary page

Because a funnel step points at a normal builder page rather than a special funnel page, everything the builder does to a page happens to every step, without anybody switching it on per step and without any step being the one that got missed.

  • The tracking pixel, so click and scroll behaviour, rage clicks and session recordings work on every step from the first visit. That is the same instrumentation described on website heatmaps, and it is how you find out that the step people abandon is the one asking for a phone number.
  • Your genuine lead capture form on the opt-in and application steps, which matters more than it sounds: a form that belongs to the platform keeps the half-finished submissions too, so somebody who typed their name and then hesitated is still a person you can follow up rather than nothing at all.
  • Your genuine booking page on the schedule step, with your real availability and your real reminders, so the appointment lands on the same contact record as the opt-in that produced it instead of arriving as a second copy of the same human being.
  • Meta and Google analytics tags where you have connected the accounts, in the same place in the head of every step, exactly once, updated in place when the funnel is rebuilt rather than accumulating a second copy each time.
  • The whole of it is documented on the AI website builder page, because it is not a funnel feature. It is what every built page gets, and the funnel simply does not opt out of it.

Competitor rows read from each vendor own pricing page on the date shown. We lose five rows outright, including two that a lot of people buy on, so read those before you buy rather than after. Where a vendor does not publish how something works, the cell says so rather than guessing.

Large template library built up over yearsThis is a real loss and it is worth being blunt about it. The others hand you a gallery of finished funnels to browse. We hand you a wizard: pick the funnel format, set a step count, name each step and give it a page type, and the whole thing is generated from that description.
Courses, memberships and communities in the same productClickFunnels lists courses, membership sites and a community on every plan. Systeme.io includes courses and an affiliate program on the free tier. We do not sell any of that, and if your business is a course business the ecosystem argument is a strong one.

Split test one whole funnel variant against another, end to endAn honest loss, and the previous version of this page claimed it in a headline. A funnel step can be tagged with a test group and the stats report per group, but there is no traffic splitting across whole funnel variants. Page-level testing is live. Funnel-level is not.

When you should not pay us for this

If you want a funnel and nothing else, we are the wrong purchase and it is not close. Systeme.io will give you three sales funnels, 2,000 contacts and a custom domain for nothing at all, and 17 dollars a month lifts the funnel cap entirely. ClickFunnels has spent a decade building the template library, the checkout, the courses, the memberships and the community around it, and there are more people who already know how to drive it than know how to drive anything we make. HighLevel is built for the same agency buyer we are and has a far bigger app marketplace and snapshot ecosystem. If your business is selling a course, all three of them sell you the course platform in the same subscription and we sell you none of it. And if what you actually need is one page rather than a sequence, do not buy a funnel product at all.

And the one thing the position buys

What we have is a position rather than a feature. In every other product on this page, a funnel is a thing built inside the funnel tool, and the lead it captures has to be moved somewhere else before anybody can act on it. Here the funnel is a flow laid over ordinary pages from the builder that runs the rest of your marketing, so the opt-in step carries your genuine form with your qualifying rules, the booking step carries your genuine calendar, and the person who fills either one is already on the contact record with the pixel, the recordings and the ad attribution attached. Nothing has to travel between systems, which means there is no integration in the middle to quietly stop working on a Friday and take a week of leads with it. The follow-up then goes out on the channel they actually came from, which for most of our customers is Instagram.

Head to head

Inflowave vs ClickFunnels

Their case: The category default, and better at being a funnel builder than we are. A far larger template library, courses, membership sites, a community and a checkout, all in the subscription. Launch is 97 dollars a month with unlimited funnels and 10,000 email contacts. It also has something we cannot buy: a decade of operators who already know exactly how to drive it, and an entire cottage industry of templates and training built around it.

Ours: ClickFunnels is a funnel platform that also keeps a CRM. We are a CRM and an inbox that also builds funnels. That sounds like marketing until you look at where the lead ends up. In theirs the opt-in captures into the funnel tool, and everything afterwards depends on getting that lead out. In ours the opt-in step is carrying your live form, so there is no getting-it-out step, and the follow-up can go back down the Instagram thread the traffic came from.

Inflowave vs Systeme.io

Their case: Free, genuinely and permanently: three sales funnels, 2,000 contacts, a custom domain, a course and an affiliate program, with no card. Startup is 17 dollars a month and removes the funnel limit. For a solo operator validating an offer this is the correct answer and no argument we could make about attribution should move you off it.

Ours: The gap shows up at the point the funnel starts working. Systeme.io is a very good funnel and email product for a business that lives in email. If your leads arrive in Instagram DMs, get qualified in a conversation and get closed on a call, the funnel is one surface out of four, and it is the only one Systeme.io covers.

Inflowave vs HighLevel

Their case: The closest competitor on this page and the one built for the same agency buyer. Starter is 97 dollars a month with three sub-accounts, Unlimited is 297, and Agency Pro at 497 adds SaaS mode and rebilling with markup. Funnels, sites, CRM, pipelines and workflow automation all in one, plus a marketplace and a snapshot ecosystem far bigger than ours.

Ours: We are narrower and we are built around the Instagram and WhatsApp conversation rather than around the phone and the email. The funnel here is generated from a description rather than assembled from a snapshot, and every step is an ordinary builder page carrying the pixel, the recordings and the server-side ad tracking by default rather than because somebody remembered to switch it on.

If ClickFunnels is the one you are actually weighing this against, there is a full comparison with ClickFunnels that goes through the pricing tiers properly rather than in one paragraph.

Finding the step that is losing everybody

Every step records three things: how many people saw it, how many submitted on it, and how many converted. That is enough to find the leak, and it is deliberately a small number of things to record, because a step report nobody can read is a step report nobody reads.

The overall funnel rate is conversions on the last step divided by views on the first. It is worth stating that definition plainly, because it is an unflattering one and most dashboards do not tell you which one they used. A funnel where every individual step converts respectably can still be losing three quarters of its traffic overall, and a headline number computed a friendlier way will hide exactly that.

Paid traffic is the case this was built around, because a funnel is where ad attribution normally falls apart: the click happens on step one and the sale happens on step four. A funnel session is minted on the first step and lasts a day, and it travels with every server-side conversion event along with a sequence number, so the order of the steps is recoverable and the sale is still joined to the click that started it. Each fire shares one event id with the browser pixel, so the same conversion is counted once rather than twice.

What happens after somebody finishes the funnel

This is the half that decides whether the funnel was worth building, and it is the half that lives outside the funnel tool in every other product on this page.

  • They land in a stage on your sales pipeline, with the answers they gave on the application step attached, so whoever picks up the call is not asking them the same four questions again.
  • Reaching a step can start an automation, which is what makes an abandoned funnel recoverable. Somebody who reached the booking step and did not book is a different message to somebody who never got past the opt-in.
  • The follow-up can go back down the channel the traffic came from, which for most of our customers is an Instagram or WhatsApp thread in the unified inbox rather than an email nobody opens. A funnel fed by Instagram ads that can only reply by email is a funnel with a hole in it.
  • Links you send into that follow-up can be tracked per recipient, so re-entering the funnel is attributable to one named person rather than to anonymous traffic.

If you are still working out whether the thing you need is a sequence at all, there is a longer piece on landing pages versus sales funnels that goes through when each one is the right shape.

What this does not do

You cannot split test one whole funnel against another. A page can be tested properly, with a visitor pinned to the same variant every time they come back, and step-level results break down by test group. But there is no traffic splitting across entire funnel variants, and ClickFunnels, Systeme.io and HighLevel all offer it. The previous version of this page claimed we did it too, in a headline, with a line about promoting the winner in one click. That was not true and it is the main reason the page was rewritten.

There is no gallery of finished funnels to browse. You describe the sequence and it gets built. That is faster than editing somebody else template when you know what you want, and it is slower and more daunting when you do not, which is exactly the case a big library exists to solve. If browsing proven layouts is how you like to start, the others are better at it and it is not a close call.

We do not sell courses, membership sites or a community, and all three competitors here include some or all of that in the same subscription. If your offer is a course, you would be buying a course platform separately, and the total is likely worse.

And there is no free tier. Systeme.io will run three real funnels for nothing forever. Nothing on this page is an argument that you should pay us instead of using that while an offer is still unproven.

Questions people actually ask

What is a funnel builder?

A funnel builder makes a sequence of pages that a visitor moves through in order, rather than one page they either act on or leave. A typical sequence is an opt-in that captures the contact, a sales or video page that makes the case, a booking or checkout that closes, and a thank-you that sets up whatever happens next. The building part is the easy half. The part that decides whether it was worth doing is what happens to the person once they are captured.

How do I build a funnel for free?

Systeme.io. It gives you three sales funnels, 2,000 contacts, one custom domain, a course and an affiliate program on a plan that costs nothing, needs no card and does not expire. We are not free and we are not going to pretend a free tier exists. If you are validating an offer and have no budget, start there and come back when the funnel is earning enough that where the leads land starts to matter.

How much does it cost to build a funnel?

On software alone, anywhere between nothing and a few hundred a month. Systeme.io Startup is 17 dollars a month with no funnel limit. ClickFunnels Launch is 97. HighLevel Starter is 97. We are priced as a full platform rather than as a funnel tool, so if a funnel is the only thing you want, we are the expensive way to get one. The larger cost is usually not the software at all: it is the traffic you send at a funnel before you know which step is losing people.

What is the difference between this and the AI website builder?

The website builder makes one page and ships it instrumented. This makes a sequence and keeps the steps coherent with each other. They are the same underlying builder: a funnel step points at an ordinary builder page, which is why every step already carries the pixel, the recordings, the analytics and your genuine form. If you need one landing page, use the website builder. If a visitor needs to pass through three or four screens before you have a sale, use this.

What kinds of steps can a funnel have?

Six types: a page, a survey, a schedule step, an upsell, a downsell and a thank-you. Types matter because they change the routing. A survey step can send someone one way when they qualify and another way when they do not, and an upsell can branch on accept or decline into a downsell, rather than everybody walking the same straight line.

How does the AI build every step at once?

You pick the funnel format, set how many steps it has, then name each step and give it a page type: opt-in, sales or video, application, booking, checkout, upsell or thank-you. All of that is folded into a single build description. Each page is then generated knowing which step of how many it is, what every other step does, and which slug its call to action has to point at, which is why the header, the footer and the design survive from the first step to the last.

Can I split test a funnel?

You can split test a page, properly. A visitor is assigned a variant by a consistent hash of their visitor id, so they see the same version on every return and the result is not polluted by reshuffling. What you cannot do yet is run one whole funnel variant against another and split traffic between them. Steps can be tagged with a test group and the stats break down by group, but nothing serves the split. An earlier version of this page claimed end-to-end funnel testing in a headline, which was wrong.

Where does a lead from the funnel end up?

On the contact record, immediately, because the form on the opt-in step is your live form rather than a copy that belongs to the funnel tool. Your qualifying rules apply, the contact lands in a pipeline stage, and the follow-up can run on the channel they came from. There is no export and no integration in the middle to fail quietly.

Does the funnel work with paid traffic?

That is the case it is built for. A funnel session cookie is set on the first step and lasts 24 hours, and it goes out with every server-side Conversions API event along with a sequence number, so a conversion several steps after the ad click is still attached to the same session. Each fire shares one event id with the browser pixel so Meta counts it once rather than twice.

What does the funnel report tell me?

Views, submissions and conversions for every step, from one aggregate query, plus the overall rate defined as conversions on the last step over views on the first. That definition is deliberately unflattering. A funnel that reads well step by step can still be losing most of its traffic between two of them, and a headline number computed any other way hides it.

Can agencies build funnels for each client?

Funnels are scoped the same way the rest of the platform is, so a funnel belongs either to one sub-account or to the agency as a whole, and a sub-account sees its own funnels plus the agency-wide ones. Where HighLevel is stronger is the snapshot and marketplace ecosystem around that, which is worth weighing if your delivery model is cloning a proven build across dozens of clients.

Who is the best funnel builder?

It depends entirely on where your leads come from. If your budget is zero, Systeme.io. If you want the deepest funnel product with courses and memberships in the same subscription, ClickFunnels. If you are an agency reselling under your own brand at scale, HighLevel is the incumbent for a reason. We are the answer when the traffic arrives in Instagram or WhatsApp conversations and the funnel is one surface out of several that the same lead has to move through.
